The Lemon Twigs & Tchotchke Join Forces for the Instant Christmas Classic, "Tchotchkes"

The Lemon Twigs and Tchotchke have joined forces in their first ever joint single, “Tchotchkes,” a delightful holiday romp that would feel right at home on The Beach Boys Christmas Album—or at least if Brian and the boys put out a post-Pet Sounds follow-up with all the SMiLE trimmings. They even make a nod to The Beach Boys’ seminal electronic pseudo Brian Wilson solo album, Love You, by referencing the completely silly “Ding Dang” when invoking Santa’s sled.

Tchotchke’s Emily Tooraen opens the song with a spoken-word Christmas wish for a new Mercedes-Benz that will fit in her palm, followed by Lemon Twigs’ Michael D’Addario giving an all-timer vocal performance, his falsetto soaring up in the clouds, all while Tchotchke’s Anastasia Sanchez and Eva Chambers’ lead vocals light Brian and Michael’s wall-of-sound sleigh. Tchotchke sing about all the different tchotchkes they’re hoping their beau's can deliver in time for Christmas, complete with sleigh bells throughout.

Further buoyed by a classic sax solo and drumming that mimics SMiLE style horse trotting, “Tchotchkes” is a perfectly joyous holiday morsel that feels incredibly needed right now. It’d make Brian Wilson proud, and will be on my Christmas playlists every year from here on out.

Listen to "Tchocthkes" below!
